You Didn’t Die on the Cross for Jesus’ Sins—He Died for Yours
An Apologetic Response to the Wounded, the Mocking, and the Misled—Reclaiming the Cross, Restoring the Truth
Preface: This article is a response to the claims in the article "I Died On The Cross For Jesus’ Sins - I’m sorry but it happened" by Lilith Helstrom on Medium
By the Spirit of truth and with a heart burning with love, I want to speak into the confusion, pain, and anger expressed in Lilith Helstrom’s article titled “I Died on the Cross for Jesus’ Sins.” This isn’t a clap back. This is a rescue mission. Because the cross of Jesus Christ is not a joke, not a scam, and not a divine abuse of power—it’s the most selfless act of love ever displayed in human history.
What’s written in that article isn’t brave rebellion—it’s brokenness crying out through sarcasm, bitterness, and wounds that haven't been healed. And I get it. Life can crush you. People can twist religion. Family can devastate you. And when your only exposure to “God” has been through the lenses of hypocrisy, abuse, or silence in the face of suffering, you start to assume the Author of life is cruel. But friend, you’ve never seen Him for who He really is.
Let’s straighten something out: Jesus Christ is not the scapegoat of some twisted cosmic manipulation scheme. He is the Lamb of God who willingly, joyfully, and righteously laid down His life to restore humanity back to the Father (John 10:17-18, Isaiah 53:4-6). Not because He needed attention. Not because He needed worship. But because we were lost, dead in sin, and incapable of saving ourselves—and He couldn’t bear eternity without us.
Lilith, you didn’t die on the cross for Jesus’ sins. He died for yours. Not because He blamed you. Because He loved you. And He didn’t stay dead “for fakesies.” The resurrection wasn’t a magic trick—it was the defeat of death, the crushing of Satan’s head, and the vindication of every word He ever spoke about His identity and mission (Romans 1:4, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). The empty tomb is your invitation into new life, not religious oppression.
And yes, you’re right about this: the world is jacked up. But God didn’t create it broken. He made it perfect—and He gave humans the authority to steward it. It was our disobedience that opened the floodgates to death and darkness (Genesis 1:26-31, Romans 5:12). And still, He didn’t abandon us. He stepped into the mess we made, clothed in human flesh, to redeem it from the inside out.
God didn’t “panic” and invent free will to cover His tracks. Free will is love’s starting point. Without choice, love cannot exist. He didn’t make robots—He made image-bearers. He risked rejection so that when you finally turn to Him, it’s real. Not programmed. Not coerced. Genuine.
But you’ve mistaken the disease for the Doctor. You’ve confused what people did in God’s name with the nature of God Himself. I’m so sorry that you were hurt. Truly. But don’t let those wounds shape your eternal perspective. Jesus isn’t your enemy. He’s the only one who saw it all and still said, “She’s worth it. I’ll take the nails.”
The irony is thick, isn’t it? You say Jesus gets worshipped while you get blamed. But He became the blamed one—so that you could be free. He was rejected, mocked, stripped, beaten, and crushed—not so we could pity Him—but so you could be restored into the love you were created for. That’s what atonement means: not blame-shifting, but burden-carrying (2 Corinthians 5:21).
And hell? It’s not God's punishment—it’s man’s preference to live without Him, forever. God doesn’t send people to hell. People reject the only One who can pull them out of it. The cross didn’t create hell—it crushed its authority. Hell isn’t full because God’s mean. Hell is full because men love darkness more than light (John 3:19-20).
So to those still reading, wounded by religion, sick of hypocrisy, and unsure if God is worth trusting—hear me: Jesus is not the system that hurt you. He’s the Savior who will heal you.
Relational Christianity and Identity in Christ
The cross is not the exposure of an angry deity—it’s the revelation of a loving Father. You are not here to grovel, earn, or beg. You were made to be a son or daughter—redeemed, restored, and filled with His very Spirit. Your value is not defined by trauma, family labels, or societal failure. Your value is defined by the price paid to win you back: the blood of the Son of God.
Don’t let pain dictate your identity. Let the cross rewrite your story.
Apologetics and the Defense of Faith
This article dismantles a caricature of Christianity but never engages with the biblical reality of God’s justice, mercy, and holiness. Substitutionary atonement is not divine abuse—it’s divine rescue. It satisfies perfect justice and reveals infinite love. The problem isn’t the cross. The problem is misunderstanding the why behind it.
The cross only looks like madness when love isn’t the lens.
Humanity’s Cosmic Role and Redemption
We were created to rule and reign with God, not to be pawns in some insecure cosmic ego trip. The fall broke creation. Jesus came to restore it. The gospel isn’t about escaping to heaven—it’s about partnering with heaven to bring redemption to earth until He returns.
You're not an accident. You're not disposable. You’re invited into cosmic purpose.
Biblical Theology and the Supernatural Worldview
Jesus is the true scapegoat, fulfilling the prophetic shadow in Leviticus 16. But unlike the goat cast out, He rose again—because He didn’t just carry sin, He conquered it. He is the High Priest and the sacrifice. Theology without the Spirit is lifeless. But when seen through the lens of covenant and kingdom, Scripture bursts with supernatural clarity and power.
Don’t settle for dead religion or reactive rage. Go straight to the Source. Encounter the living Christ.
CALL TO ACTION
It’s time to stop living wounded by lies. The Father is not who religion made Him out to be. And He’s not your enemy. Jesus didn’t die so we could start a religion. He died to tear the veil and bring you home. Right now, He’s knocking—not to condemn you—but to invite you into healing, identity, and truth.
Step out of the shadows. Stop blaming the fire for the burns caused by counterfeit sparks. Surrender to the One who loved you before you even took your first breath. Upgrade your understanding. Dive into Scripture. Ask the hard questions—but ask with an open heart. And if you’re hungry for more, subscribe for deeper insights, powerful teachings, and resources that will anchor your faith in the truth that sets you free.
Because you weren’t made to deconstruct faith. You were made to live in the fullness of Christ.
He died for you. And He lives to see you walk free.

I died on the cross in Jesus, as He died for me. Why? Because God did not want me to wait around and see the judgment like we all will see. But, a word on damnable heresies….we are now in the time when they will become much more prolific while finding more and more acceptance. The spirit of antichrist which has been at work these two millennia is even now growing stronger as the revelation of the man is sin approaches.
Look up. The day of the Lord is nigh.
This is a drop-the-mic moment for sure—fantastic article, full of well-spoken Truth that needs to be heard far and wide. 🙏🏼
