In our last article, How to Discern the Subtle Ways Deception Enters Churches, we explored how deception often enters the Church subtly—through distorted doctrines, false unity, and a shift away from the simplicity of Christ. We saw how essential it is to stay rooted in the Gospel, unmoved by teachings that add to or take away from Christ’s finished work. Now, we turn our focus to unmasking the specific hidden threats that undermine our devotion to Jesus, often without us even realizing it.

The greatest danger to the Church is often not the obvious lie, but the subtle distortion. Paul grieved over this when he said, "I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ" 2 Corinthians 11:3. What are these hidden threats that creep in unnoticed and compromise our devotion to Christ?
