Who Is Jesus? The One Who Changes Everything
There’s no name more powerful, more controversial, or more life-altering than the name of Jesus. He’s the One who split history in two, the One who walked in perfect love yet was rejected, beaten, and crucified. He’s the One who healed the sick, cast out demons, forgave sinners, and preached a message so radical that it turned the world upside down. And yet, for all the miracles, all the wisdom, all the supernatural encounters—what matters most is that He’s still alive today.
Jesus: The Plan of Redemption Before the Beginning
Before the foundation of the world, God had a plan. He knew that mankind would fall. He knew that sin would separate us from Him. But He also knew that love would win. Jesus wasn’t an afterthought. He wasn’t God’s “backup plan” when humanity rebelled. Revelation 13:8 calls Him "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." That means before Adam ever took his first breath, before sin ever entered the picture, God had already determined to send His Son to redeem us.
This is the beauty of the gospel. God wasn’t reacting to our failure—He was revealing His love. He was showing us the depth of His heart, the unshakable nature of His goodness. Jesus came because love demanded it.
Jesus: Fully God, Fully Man
In John 1:1, we read that Jesus was with God in the beginning and that He was God. Then, in John 1:14, it says, "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." This is the mystery and the miracle of Christ—He wasn’t just a good teacher, a prophet, or a moral example. He was and is fully God and fully man.
Think about that. The God who created the universe—the One who spoke light into existence—chose to take on human flesh. He walked among us. He got tired, hungry, and weary. He laughed. He wept. He felt pain. And yet, He never sinned. He lived the life we couldn’t live and then gave Himself as a sacrifice in our place.
Jesus: The Message of the Kingdom
Jesus didn’t just come to forgive sin—He came to bring a kingdom. His message was simple yet revolutionary: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matthew 4:17). Everywhere He went, He demonstrated what this kingdom looked like. The blind saw, the lame walked, the dead were raised. Demons fled at His command. He showed us what it meant to live in right relationship with the Father.
But His kingdom wasn’t about earthly power. He didn’t come to overthrow Rome or establish a political rule. His kingdom was a spiritual one—a kingdom where love reigns, where the last are first, where enemies are forgiven, and where those who lose their lives for His sake truly find them.
Jesus: The Cross That Changed Everything
For three years, Jesus ministered, taught, and revealed the heart of the Father. But His ultimate purpose was the cross. He wasn’t caught off guard by it. He wasn’t a victim of injustice. He willingly laid down His life (John 10:18).
Why? Because sin demanded justice. Because we were lost, separated from God, dead in our trespasses. And Jesus—out of pure love—became our substitute. He took our sin, our shame, our punishment. The wrath of God was poured out on Him so that mercy could be poured out on us.
And when He declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30), He meant it. The price was paid. The veil in the temple tore. The way back to the Father was opened.
Jesus: The Victory of the Resurrection
But the story didn’t end there. Three days later, He walked out of the tomb, defeating death, sin, and the grave. This is what makes Christianity unlike any other faith—our Savior isn’t dead. He is risen! (Matthew 28:6).
The resurrection isn’t just a historical event—it’s the proof that Jesus is who He said He is. It’s the guarantee that everything He promised is true. It’s the foundation of our faith. Because He lives, we have hope. Because He conquered death, we have eternal life.
Jesus: The Call to Follow Him
Jesus didn’t just come to save us from something—He came to save us for something. He calls us to follow Him, to live in relationship with Him, to walk in the same love and power that He demonstrated. He didn’t die to create churchgoers—He died to redeem sons and daughters.
So, the question is, have you encountered Him? Have you truly surrendered your life to Jesus, or have you settled for knowing about Him? There’s a difference between religion and relationship. Religion tries to earn God’s approval. Relationship rests in what Jesus has already done.
The invitation is open. Jesus isn’t looking for perfection—He’s looking for surrender. He’s calling us to Himself, to a life that is completely transformed by His love.
Jesus: The Coming King
One day, Jesus is coming again. Not as a suffering servant, but as a reigning King. The first time, He came to save. The next time, He’s coming to judge and to establish His kingdom in fullness. "Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that He is Lord." (Philippians 2:10-11).
Until then, we get to live in the reality of His kingdom now. We get to walk in His love, spread His gospel, and be His hands and feet on the earth. We don’t just wait for heaven—we bring heaven to earth.
Jesus: The Answer to Everything
Whatever you’re facing today, Jesus is the answer. He’s the healer, the deliverer, the restorer. He’s the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). He’s not just a part of our lives—He is our life.
And He’s calling you deeper. Will you follow Him? Will you trust Him? Will you live in the reality of what He’s done?
Jesus isn’t just a historical figure. He’s alive. And He changes everything.
