A Quiet Beginning
A prayer for the year placed gently in the hands of God
Lord of time and mercy,
the year opens before You in stillness.
Nothing is hidden.
Nothing arrives alone.
Each moment rests already within Your care.
Receive this beginning as a small offering.
Receive the days that will pass quickly.
Receive the nights that may feel long.
Place them where Your peace abides.
Cleanse what remains heavy from the year that has ended.
Heal what was spoken without love.
Bind what was scattered by fear.
Cover weakness with Your patience.
Teach the heart to walk without haste.
Let prayer return to its simple place.
Let silence become a dwelling.
Let repentance stay gentle and true.
Bless the work of unseen faithfulness.
The quiet forgiveness.
The unnoticed endurance.
The obedience known only to You.
Strengthen what is small and sincere.
Guard the soul from anxiety about tomorrow.
Give trust for this hour.
Give light enough for the next step.
“Give us this day our daily bread”
Matthew 6:11
Send the Holy Spirit to remain close.
Soften the heart when it grows hard.
Warm it when it grows cold.
Restore it when it grows tired.
Let sorrow become a teacher of compassion.
Let joy return as thanksgiving.
Let suffering be held within hope.
“For My strength is made perfect in weakness”
2 Corinthians 12:9
May this year unfold within Your will.
Not in success, but in truth.
Not in noise, but in peace.
Not in striving, but in love.
Into Your hands, O Christ,
the days are placed.
Remain near in every hour.
Make all things new.
Revelation 21:5
Amen
